What are the benefits of a professional lawn service?
At Germantown Lawn Service & Mowing, lawn service is our life. While you may be tempted to go to the hardware store and buy fertilizers and lawn treatments off the shelf, our professionals can diagnose any problems with your lawn and create a plan to make your lawn healthy. We have access to professional products that are going to give better results than store bought, as well as administer the right treatments at the right time, and in the proper amounts. We pride ourselves on making sure your lawn is in great shape.
What are the benefits of weed control?
Weeds in your lawn compete with the grass for a share of the nutrients, sunlight and space, meaning that your grass may not be receiving everything it needs in order to stay healthy. By making sure that weeds are treated both before and after they appear, your lawn has a better chance at growing up thick and healthy, which in turn gives the weeds less space to grow. While not every weed can be prevented, we will treat those weeds that do come through in order to keep your lawn healthy all season.
Why do I need fertilizer treatments?
Fertilizing your lawn feeds to roots, ensuring that they can grow deep and strong. Every lawn has different needs, and we can cater the treatment to the needs of your grass. The key factor is making sure that your lawn is receiving the proper fertilizer in the proper amounts, and during specific times. By doing this, your lawn will not only look great, but it will maintain its health.
How long after lawn treatment is it safe for children and pets?
We recommend that children and pets stay off treated lawns for 24 hours after the treatment has been applied.
When can I mow after a treatment?
It is best if you wait 24 hours after a lawn treatment before mowing. If you must mow before then, wait until the treatment is completely dry and set your lawn mower to the highest mowing setting. This will help ensure the lawn is receiving the treatment properly.
Should I bag my lawn clippings?
If you don’t have to bag your clippings, we recommend you don’t! When the clippings are allowed to remain on the lawn, as the clippings break down they return nutrients to the soil which in turn maintains the health of your lawn. However, if you’ve waited for a long period between mowings and there are large clumps of clippings, then it is best to bag the clippings and mow on a more regular basis, or wait for the clumps to dry and spread the clippings out.
There are brown patches on the lawn. What can you do?
Brown patches can have several causes, many of which are treatable. Germantown Lawn Service & Mowing can diagnose what is causing the brown patches, whether they are grubs, pet spots, chemical burns or any other number of reasons, and come up with a treatment plan in order to correct the problem.
What advice do you have for watering my lawn?
If you water your lawn due to a prolonged dry period, we recommend watering long and deep. What this means is watering your lawn three days apart or more, in order to prevent any disease of the leaf, and watering for long periods of time. You want to try to simulate one inch of rainfall per week. By doing this you will promote deep root growth and create a healthier lawn.
